Did we used to date?

A while ago I wanted to re-up some service with one software services company. I saw they had the option to “pay” with a sponsored membership if I subscribed to one of the offers available from several companies doing the sponsoring. So naturally I used it to manipulate and coerce my children. They agreed to ever-increasing amounts of slave labor, and I got it all, plus the service I originally wanted, for the low price of < $10 a month! Thanks, Gamefly.
But then the honeymoon ended and it wasn’t quite as I expected it to be. At all. It was time to end the torrid affair.
Yet all this time later, and I still get the emails: “Come back. We’ve got a great offer. We’re a really great deal. Just think of all we can give!” And they’re not frequent enough to really cause a stir with me, but it did of turn my stomach tonight. It’s like the old boyfriend who just pops up at the oddest, most unexpected moments, begging for you! ICK! And all I want to do is run far, far away. Because you weren’t that great in the first place, and now you’re just downright disgusting with all your begging and jumping up at me from out of the blue. And I can’t help but wonder…
